Welcome!

Welcome gang!

For my first post, as a precursor, I just want to say that I have always loved weddings. When I was about 9 I went to my stepsister Carrie's wedding in Oklahoma and caught the bouquet, and I have been in love with weddings ever since. Depending on who you ask to tell this story (such as my mother), some will say that I practically sprinted, pushed a few ladies aside, and did a 5 yard dash in about 3 seconds flat in order to catch this bouquet, but I digress.

So after that I started drawing and designing wedding gowns in this little art portfolio that I had. Before this I was just sketching cute little outfits and summertime dresses, but then I fell in love with wedding gowns. I'm pretty sure I still have that portolio sketch pad lying around here somewhere.

Anywaaaayys in honor of the time when I was young and first fell in love with weddings, I'm going to do my top 5 favorite wedding movies of all time (in no particular order). You know you're excited:

1.  Frank and Miranda in Old School

Probably one of the best reception scenes of all time thanks to The Dan Band. If you've seen the movie you know what I'm talking about. "Every now and then I fall apaaaart..."
Vince Vaughn is classic in the ceremony scene as well "All right, let me be the first to say congratulations to you then. You get one vagina for the rest of your life. Real smart, Frank. Way to work it through."

2.  Sadie and Ben in License to Wed

One of Robin Williams' more PG performances, since he plays a priest, but he is still hilarious. But I love this movie because it's actually got a pretty good cast (most of the folks from The Office are in it) and I love almost any movie that Mandy Moore does (I'm a girl, sue me). The wedding scene at the end where they get married on the beach pier in Jamaica is basically exactly what I want for my own wedding, very relaxed but sophisticated feel, beautiful beach ocean scenery, and a pretty flowy dress. Too bad I couldnt find a picture of this scene...Google you have failed me. :(

3. Robbie and Julia in The Wedding Singer

Everyone loves a good 80's flashback, and this movie's definitely got it all: neon spandex, excessive hairspray usage, and a Billy Idol cameo . This is one of my most favorite movies of all time and one of Adam Sandler's best. I pretty much love all the wedding reception scenes in this movie, they're all equally hilarious in that Sandler is a broken hearted singer basically ruining these people's receptions by changing the happy words of songs to depressing lyrics about his evil girlfriend who jilted him. If you havent seen this movie...get with the program!

4. John Beckwith and Jeremy Gray in Wedding Crashers

Okay so these two aren't actually the couple getting married, but they pretty much make the whole movie. Between their witty improv and hilarious antics, they make every wedding they go to a blast. Another Vince Vaughn classic!

5. Tracy and Doug in The Hangover

Nothing like a little extreme sunburn to add a little color to your wedding pictures right? Poor Doug, all he wanted to do was go to Vegas and enjoy a little man time bachelor style with his buddies, and they end up not only drugging him, but putting him and his mattress outside on the roof as a prank and then forgetting him there. His bride-to-be is surprsingly cool with the fact that her future husband shows up to their wedding an hour late and looking like an oversized oompa loompa.

There are a ton of other wedding movies I like but these are probably my favorite.  Check back in the future...I may make a revised list (I still haven't seen The Five Year Engagement and really want to soon!)
